Witnessing or Attesting a Signature

$5.00

A witness is a neutral third party who has first-hand knowledge of an event. If there is ever a dispute about the event, the witness can be called upon to state that he or she was present and testify as to what happened.

As a notary witnessing or attesting a signature, it is the notary who has first-hand knowledge that an individual signed a record. Therefore, I would only verify that the individual making the statement, indeed showed up and verified their identity before signing.
